Artist Statement

The subjects and objects of my work reference my life experiences.  My work is not intended to be a literal representation, rather the colors, textures, lines and shapes I use are based on my formal understanding and intuative sence of aesthetics. Layers play an important role in my compositions.  I think similar to the way converging lines on a 2D surface create an illusion of space, so do the layered edges of certain opposing shapes, complementary colors and varied textures.   I am fascinated by the way humans perceive and interpret the world.  I am propelled by moments of clarity that come while layering visual and even conceptual elements.   I draw influence from a multitude of interests ranging from physics, graffiti, technology, bourbon, fashion, contemporary artists, old masters, indie rock, skateboarding, gardening, and others.  My aim is earn a sustainable family-living as a full-time studio artist.

*This website is collection of image samples organized into a list of themes I find reoccuring in my work. I have used several organizations in the past and before long I'm sure I will find reasons to change from this format. At the bottom of each page are notes regarding the theme or text about individual works. Thank you for visiting my website and for your support.
