*Displays of power are not unique to the human species, but in my opinion are by far the most elaborate, viscous, and coumminicative displays in the animal kingdom. These works are about displays imagined, experienced, found, as well as staged. The image of the dog is a found display of power, whereas a farmer must have killed and placed a coyote on his barbed wire fence. The message that he was trying to communicate and the intended audience could not be more clear. Having photographed and appropriated his act, I place the image in an art context as a suggestion of the dynamic between the artist and the viewer.
